There are situations when a new elevation certification is required. these are some but not all:
If you are making noteworthy structural changes on the property
If there is no certification file due to the FIRM maps not being drawn or in force the last time the property was sold.
If the FIRM maps have been recently changed to include your property, now that you property is in a flood plain it would need to have any structures elevation certfied
If you think that your property’s flood rating might change, and you want to request a letter of map amendment (LOMA) to change its status (This can lower your flood insurance premiam)
If you’re being asked for elevation certification by a lender it’s important to have precise results so you can minimize risk as well as to keep your insurance premiums as low as possible. If you have any questions on FEMA elevation certification, or need a quote please contact Surveys Plus, Inc.
